How Can I Configure or Reset the Intel® Optane™ Memory M Series in MSI* System to Non-Optane?

Operating System

Windows 11, 64-bit*, Windows® 10, 64-bit*
Intel® Optane™ Memory

Description

System is ready for Intel Optane™ but no module is detected.

Resolution

To set up Intel® Optane™ Memory in BIOS:

  1. Shut down and boot into your BIOS.
  2. Press F7 to go to the advanced mode.
  3. Go to Settings>Boot>Boot Configuration and check the following option: Boot Mode Select = UEFI.
  4. Go to Settings>Advanced>Windows OS Configuration and make sure that the option that says Windows* 8.1/10 WHQL Support is enabled.
  5. Go to Settings>SATA Configuration and check the following options:
    • SATA Mode: RAID/Optane™ Mode
    • M.2 Genie: Enabled -M.2_1
    • RST PCIe Storage Remapping: Enabled.
  6. Reinstall the operating system.
  7. Reinstall the Intel® Optane™ drivers.

To reset to non-Optane:

  1. Open the BIOS.
  2. Go to Settings>Advanced>Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
  3. Select Intel PCIe (Optane module with serial number).
  4. Select Reset to non-Optane.
  5. Save changes and boot to Windows* again.
  6. Open the Intel® Optane™ Memory application in order to enable again the Intel® Optane™ Memory module.
