TA-234: Potential Packet Data Issue with Intel® Ethernet 700 Series Running Microsoft Windows* Operating Systems
Size: 80 KB

A packet data pointer issue may occur when using Intel® Ethernet 700 Series products with certain Intel Ethernet device drivers. This issue occurs on Windows* operating systems that are using the “Jumbo Packet” feature with the “Receive Side Coalescing” (RSC) feature.
The issue may lead to a data mismatch between what was received off wire (RX port) from a remote sender and what is transferred up the OS/system stack to the receiver (i.e. application). Most applications apply their own additional forms of data integrity checking, however there may exist some that don't, and as such, may be exposed to potential data integrity issues.
|Note||By default the “Jumbo Packet” feature is disabled (off) in Intel Windows drivers.|
This issue is resolved with drivers included in the SW 23.4 Release.
You can download SW Release 23.4:
Intel® Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack
Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows Server 2012*
Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows Server 2012 R2*
Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows Server 2016*
|Note||Microsoft has ended support for Windows Server 2016 Nano Server* as of Spring 2018. As a result, support for Windows Server 2016 Nano Server was removed in Intel Software Release 23.4. Customers on Windows Server 2016 Nano Server can use drivers available in Intel Software Release 22.10, which don't exhibit the issues described in this Technical Advisory. Intel recommends updating to SW 23.4 as soon as possible. If updating to SW 23.4 isn't convenient for you at this time, there's an available workaround for the issue. See TA-234 for more details.
In addition to the availability of SW Release 23.4, we are removing SW Release 23.2 and SW Release 23.1 from Download Center.
|Note||These drivers and software are for retail versions of Intel® Ethernet Adapters. If you don't have a retail version of an Intel® Ethernet Adapter, we recommend you work with your computer manufacturer before installing our driver.|
