What Is Intel's Import and Export Compliance Policy and How Do They Deal with Embargoed Countries?

Content Type: Product Information & Documentation   |   Article ID: 000022576   |   Last Reviewed: 01/26/2022

Laws and regulations govern imports and exports in every county where we do business. Many laws restrict or prohibit the following to certain destinations, entities, and foreign persons:

  • Product shipments
  • Software/technology electronic transmissions or transfers

In many cases, the law requires an export license or appropriate government approvals before a shipment or transfer. We have a responsibility to comply with these laws and regulations. Therefore, we must clear all goods through customs and cannot:

  • Proceed with a transaction, after we learn a violation occurred or is about to occur.
  • Transfer controlled software and technology without appropriate authorizations.
  • Apply an appropriate monetary value to goods and services.

Even inadvertent violations, can result in significant fines and penalties, including:

  • Denial of export licenses
  • Loss of export privileges
  • Customs inspections and delays

Because these laws and regulations are complex and unique in each country, we provide guidelines and training.

The United States Government defines Embargoed Countries based on national security.

  • Intel does not do business with embargoed countries. Selling, distributing, or exporting products or services is prohibited. Intel is also prohibited from providing technical and RMA support to anyone from an Embargoed Country.
