Intel® Wired Ethernet Network Adapters and Promiscuous Mode
The following adapters support promiscuous mode:
- Intel® PRO/100 Adapter
- Intel® PRO/1000 Gigabit Server Adapter
- Intel® Gigabit Network Adapter
- Intel® PRO/10 Gigabit
- Intel® 10 Gigabit Server Adapter
A network management agent or other software such as a network sniffer tells the OS to turn on the promiscuous mode support. You need a network management agent because users cannot enable/disable the support.
Note | In some cases, you need to ensure tagged Ethernet frames are passed up without stripping the tags. Change the settings of the OS running the packet capture software. |
