Problem Installing Windows Server 2008*: No Booting to this Disk
What am I seeing?
During the initial setup of Windows Server 2008* at the Where do you want to install Windows? page, I can see all the available disks (that is, the RAID volumes created in the Intel® RAID BIOS Console). However, there's an error saying:
This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu
Note | The installation of the operating system can't be completed even if I create a new partition and click Next. |
Why am I seeing it?
This behavior is normal, expected, and occurs when the RAID BIOS is disabled in the properties of the controller.
How to fix it.
To resolve this problem, proceed as follows:
- Enter the RAID BIOS Console [CTRL+G] and select Controller Properties.
- Click Next on the Properties page and identify the Controller BIOS setting.
- Change the Controller BIOS setting from Disabled to Enabled.
- Click Submit to save the changes. Exit the RAID BIOS console and proceed with the installation of the Windows operating system.
