Windows* Upgrade Notices for Intel® Small Business Advantage
Upgrades from Windows 8* to Windows 8.1*
If Intel® Small Business Advantage (Intel® SBA) is not working normally after upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, please update to Intel® SBA version 2.2 through the automatic update mechanism in the software, or uninstall the current version and install Intel® SBA 2.2.
Also note that Windows 8.1 is not fully compatible with Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME) driver versions lower than version 9.0.20.x. If Intel® SBA detects a version lower than 9.0.20.x, a message will be shown recommending updating the Intel ME driver.
Upgrades from Windows 7* to Windows 8
Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 can cause the Intel® SBA application to be uninstalled during the upgrade process. Two conditions are known to cause this issue:
- Windows 7* Professional being upgraded to Windows 8* Core
- Windows 7* Ultimate being upgraded to Windows 8 Core
In addition to Intel® SBA, Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME) driver and other Intel and third-party applications might be uninstalled.
If you upgraded to Windows 8 and the Intel® SBA was uninstalled, complete the following steps:
-
Download and install the Intel® ME1 driver from your computer or desktop board manufacturer.
Note If your manufacturer does not provide the Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME) driver, download the driver for your desktop board from the Intel Download Center. Be aware this is a generic driver and does not contain any custom features installed by the manufacturer. - Reboot your computer.
- Install Intel® SBA version 1.12.
1 The Intel ME driver is unique to each Intel® Chipset on your motherboard. Install the correct Intel ME driver for your specific Intel® Chipset.
2 Intel recommends obtaining Intel® SBA version 1.1 from your computer manufacturer, as they could have customized the Intel® SBA software.
