Windows 11* Family, Windows® 10 family

When using Intel® Endpoint Management Assistance (Intel® EMA), you have two options to set the Intel® AMT Management Engine (MEBX) password:

Option 1: Using Intel® EMA

  1. Log in to the EMA server as a tenant.
  2. Go to endpoint groups.
  3. Select the view configuration from the tenant group drop-down.
  4. Choose Intel® AMT auto-setup to configure the Intel® MEBX password:
  5. Do not set a random password: Suitable for test and production environments while provisioning the endpoints.
  6. Set a random password per endpoint: Ideal for production environments. Retrieve the password using Intel® EMA API Sample Scripts. For more details, refer to the Intel® EMA API Guide.

Option 2: Resetting via CMOS/RTC Battery

  1. Unplug and remove the CMOS/RTC battery from the system.
  2. Wait at least five minutes before replacing it.
  3. This resets the computer to factory settings, allowing access with the default password (admin).
  4. Re-provision the client after resetting.
Note Depending on OEM and BIOS version, you may need to disable and re-enable Intel® AMT Management Engine (MEBX) to reset the password to the factory default. If your PKI DNS Suffix is set for Admin Control Mode (ACM), it will be deleted and must be re-entered.
