The option ROM manages Serial ATA hard drives and RAID volumes that are attached to an Intel® RAID Controller hub before the operating system loads.
The option ROM is integrated with the system BIOS on all motherboards with a supported Intel® chipset and Intel® RAID Controller hub.
It's okay to upgrade to a newer version of Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST)—for example, v10.1—if you have an older version of the option ROM—for example, v9.6—installed. The option ROM version doesn't need to match the version of Intel RST.
The functionality with Intel® Optane™ memory is only supported on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
