Who supports my Linux* driver?

Linux drivers are part of the upstream Linux* kernel. They are available through the regular channels, distributions, or the Linux* kernel archives. We support use of the drivers only in the kernel version the driver was a part of. See the table below for a list of supported devices. Find support for older devices in the Wireless Networking Community.

How do I develop my driver?

Driver development happens in the open-source Linux community. Find more information on the community page. Development support is only available through the open-source community mailing lists. We don't provide development driver support.

What firmware does my wireless device require?

The wireless device requires firmware to operate. Firmware usually ships with your distribution, but you can find the latest versions in the table below. Each download provides firmware under its own license.

Download the firmware from the table below or the firmware blobs repository for use with the Linux kernel.

To install firmware:

1. Copy the files into the distribution-specific firmware directory, /lib/firmware.
2. If the directory does not work, consult your distribution documentation.
3. If you configure the kernel yourself, make sure firmware loading is enabled.
