Springing to action in India
Bringing sustainability to Lake Nanjapura
Intel’s commitment to sustainability
Our environmental projects and company-wide initiatives are driving reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, water use, and waste generation around the world. In the case of the Nanjapura Village, Intel's initiatives helped restore a community's water source.
Lake Nanjapura is a vital resource for Nanjapura Village in Bengaluru, India. When pressure on this natural resource increased, it became the collective responsibility of all who use it to protect and restore it. With Intel support and help from the SayTrees Environmental Trust, conservationsists planted native trees along the lake to help prevent soil erosion. After community efforts to restore the lake, it now contains up to 183 million liters of water. The lake also holds water year-round, ensuring bore wells and agricultural fields never run dry— and that Nanjapura Village has water for years to come.
