Kay-Ulrich is Principal Investigator & Science Research Manager at Intel Labs working in the area of Automated Driving where he with his team focuses on achieving safety on system level . He received his Phd from University of Karlsruhe (today KIT). He worked about a decade in research in the field of mobile autonomous robots and later in industry on the predevelopment of Driver Assistance Systems and on series development of in-vehicle infotainment systems. Later he found his way back towards robotics and is now focusing on Automated Driving. His special interest was and is to consider overall system aspects and the application of model based development approaches that lead to fast development cycles, higher product quality, reliability and safety and being able to control highly complex systems. He got awarded for his R&D work in robotics by the state of Baden-Württemberg in 2004 and 2005. He's author and co-author of ~25 publications and holds ~25 patents.
