David Koufaty has impacted product development at many levels, including micro-architecture, Intel64 ISA, interconnects, and accelerator architecture as well as software support for these new capabilities. He was awarded an Intel Achievement Award, the highest technical award at Intel, for his role in developing the Hyper-Threading technology in the Pentium 4 processor. He has over 25 published research papers and 25 patents granted, with many more pending.

His currents interests are in the areas of new accelerators, heterogeneous computing, and scalable system design.

He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he received the C.W. Gear Outstanding Graduate Student and the David J. Kuck Outstanding Thesis Awards. Prior to that, he attended the Universidad Simon Bolivar in his native Venezuela.
