PCIe Device Attacks: Beyond DMA. Exploiting PCIe Switches, Messages and Errors

Hareesh Khattri, security researcher; Nagaraju N Kodalapura, offensive security researcher; and Nam N Nguyen, offensive security researcher, all from Intel, will present a new class of threats and attacks by targeting the capabilities and features of PCIe switches instead of endpoint devices, and will discuss attacks made possible using different types of translation layer packets (TLPs) from the memory and IO read/write commonly used in previously known attacks.

Securing Open Source Software - End-to-End, at Massive Scale, Together

Fuzzing Linux with Xen

Last year Intel successfully up streamed a new feature to Xen that allows high-speed fuzzing of virtual machines (VMs) using VM-forking. Recently through collaboration with the Xen community, external monitoring of VMs via Intel® Processor Trace has also been up streamed. Combined with the native Virtual Machine Introspection (VMI) capability, Xen now provides a unique platform for fuzzing and binary analysis. To illustrate the power of the platform, Tamas Lengyel, senior security researcher at Intel, will present the details of a real-world fuzzing operation that targeted Linux kernel-modules from an attack-vector that has previously been hard to reach.

Ghost DMA Attack & The SeDeFuS Conundrum

In this talk, Dr. Raghudeep Kannavara, security tech lead at Intel and Alan Sheng, software architect at Intel, will present a new class of DMA attack, i.e., Ghost DMA attack, that does not require physical access to the computer.
