“The Age of AI” YouTube video series recently visited the Mara Elephant Reserve in Kenya to see how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to detect poachers and alert park rangers in near real time. The TrailGuard AI solution uses a tiny Intel® Movidius™ vision processing unit (VPU) for object detection and image classification inside the camera. If a human is detected among the motion-activated images captured by the camera, the TrailGuard device triggers electronic alerts to park rangers who can mobilize before poachers can do harm.
