1.2.1. Deprecated Features and Functions

The functions and features listed in this section have been deprecated but not removed from Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 25.1.1 or earlier. Migrate your tools and processes to use the replacement or alternate features and functions before the deprecated features and functions are removed.

Features and Functions Deprecated as of Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 25.1.1

As of Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 25.1.1, the following features are deprecated:
  • The quartus_cmd command is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. If you have scripts or processes that depend on the quartus_cmd command, migrate them to use the quartus_sh command.

Features and Functions Deprecated as of Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 25.1

As of Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 25.1, the following features are deprecated:
  • Support for the AXI4 BFM in the Siemens EDA AXI Verification IP Suite ( Intel® FPGA Edition) is deprecated. AXI4 BFM support is transitioning to the Altera® AXI4 Bus Functional Model.

    For help transitioning to the new BFM, review API Translation: Mentor* VIP to Altera® AXI4 Memory-Mapped BFM in the Altera® AXI4 Bus Functional Model User Guides.

  • For simulation with Synopsys* VCS*, the VCS 2-step flow (formerly the VCS flow) is deprecated. If you use Synopsys* VCS*, migrate your simulation to use the VCS 3-step flow (formerly the VCS MX flow).
These features might be removed from a future release. To avoid disruptions, migrate to the alternatives as soon as you can.

Features and Functions Deprecated as of Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 24.3.1

For Questa*-Intel® FPGA Edition, support for using the LM_LICENSE_FILE and MGLS_LICENSE_FILE environment variables for licensing Questa*-Intel® FPGA Edition is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.

Migrate your Questa*-Intel® FPGA Edition licensing to use the SALT_LICENSE_SERVER environment variable instead of the deprecated environment variables.

You can continue to use the LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable for licensing Quartus® Prime software.

Features and Functions Deprecated as of Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 24.3

No Quartus® Prime features or functions have been deprecated in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 24.3.
