Recently there have been several changes to the Intel® High Definition Audio specification. These details have been documented in a central whitepaper which is available in PDF form on this page.
Functional Changes
These are high level descriptions of the new features in the Intel® High Definition Audio specification:
- The advertisement and discovery of new capabilities have been simplified with a capabilities linked-list.
- The specification now supports multiple-heterogeneous links (the first feature to use the capabilities linked list framework).
- New support for static switching to lower frequencies. This reduces dissipation on configurations which only require fixed, low bandwidth connections.
- Added support for a new variant of the high definition audio codec which dispenses with the RST# pin.
