This article lists the system requirements for Intel® HPC Toolkit. Intel® HPC Toolkit requires Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit, please see the Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit System Requirements for additional information.
Hardware Requirements

- Integrated Processor Graphics Skylake or higher
- Discrete GPUs including latest Intel® Data Center GPU Max Series
- Memory: 8 GB RAM recommended
- Disk space: 14GB for all features
Software Requirements
Intel® HPC Toolkit is complemented by Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit.
These OS distributions are tested by Intel or known to work; other distributions may or may not work and are not recommended. If you have questions, access the Intel Community Forums when you need assistance. If you have Commercial Support, create a support ticket.
Intel® oneAPI 2023.2 is validated on Windows and Linux for the following driver versions
- Windows Intel® Graphics Driver
To install the driver follow the directions in the article appropriate for your device- Intel® Arc™ Graphics, 11th-13th Gen Intel® Core™ processor directions.
- Xe Dedicated, 6th-10th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor Graphics, and related Intel Atom®, Pentium®, and Celeron® processors directions. Driver version varies depending on the Intel Graphics in the system.
- Intel® Data Center GPU Flex Series (ATS-M). Contact your OEM representative for access to the Intel Registration Center.
- Linux General Purpose Intel GPUs (GPGPU) Driver
For all Intel GPUs, the latest stable release validated with oneAPI 2023.2 release is https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/releases/LTS-release-notes.html#release-2024-12-04.

Developer Tool Requirements:
- GNU* Bash is required for local installation and for setting up the environment to use the toolkit.
- Linux kernel 4.11 or higher
- Linux Developer tools component installed, including gcc, g++ and related tools.
The Intel® compilers are tested with a number of different Linux distributions, with different versions of gcc. The version of glibc you use must be consistent with the version of gcc in use. other distributions may or may not work and are not recommended. If you have questions and have Commercial Support, create a support ticket. Otherwise use the Intel Community Forums when you need assistance. - GNU* GCC* v5.1 or higher

- Tool clinfo: a utility that prints out information about available devices on your system.

Using Microsoft’s Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2) in Windows 10 and Windows 11, you can install the native Linux distribution of Intel oneAPI toolkits and libraries on Windows for CPU and GPU workflows. Developer Tool Requirements:

- macOS* support for Mac* computers with Intel® Processors.
- Intel oneAPI Base Toolkit for macOS on x86 is now deprecated and will be discontinued in the 2024.0 release. Several Intel-led open source developer tool projects will continue supporting macOS on Apple Silicon including oneAPI Threading Building Blocks (oneTBB) and Intel® Implicit SPMD Program Compiler and we welcome the opportunity to work with contributors to expand support to additional tools in the future.

Diagnostics Utility for Intel® oneAPI Toolkits
The Diagnostics Utility for Intel® oneAPI Toolkits is designed to diagnose the system status for using Intel® products. With this utility, you can identify errors such as:
- Permissions errors for the current user
- Missing driver or an incompatible version of a driver
- Incompatible version of the Operating System

Third Party GPUs
- To use an AMD* GPU with the Intel® oneAPI DPC++ Compiler, install the oneAPI for AMD GPUs plugin from Codeplay.
- To use an NVIDIA* GPU with the Intel® oneAPI DPC++ Compiler, install the oneAPI for NVIDIA GPUs plugin from Codeplay.
Known Issues

If you installed Intel compilers as part of the oneAPI 2023.2 release of the Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit, the Intel® oneAPI HPC Toolkit, the Intel® oneAPI IoT Toolkit, or from the oneAPI Standalone Component page, please install the appropriate patch for your environment.
Two patches are now available, one for each of the Intel C++ and Fortran compilers, that were published as part of oneAPI 2023.2:
* Intel® oneAPI DPC+/C+ Compiler and Intel® C++ Compiler Classic
* Intel® Fortran Compiler Classic and Intel® Fortran CompilerThe patch version is 2023.2.1.
These patches apply only to Linux* and Windows*.
These patches resolve the issue of missing Environment Modules utility modulefiles and other issues.
The patches are available on the Intel® Registration Center, other distribution channels, like APT, YUM, and the standalone component page.
- When installing on Rocky Linux using the YUM repository or the binary package, the installer prints an unsupported OS warning message. That can be safely ignored for this release.
