Download Instructions

Use the following steps to add Intel® Compiler documentation to your local machine:

  1. Download your selected HTML documentation from the links in the Download Links section.
  2. Unzip the downloaded documentation folder to one of the following locations:
    • Paths for oneAPI for 2024.0 and higher:
      • Intel® oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI\compiler[version]\share\documentation\en\compiler_c\
      • Intel® Fortran Compiler:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI\compiler[version]\share\documentation\en\compiler_f\
    • Paths for oneAPI releases before 2024.0:
      • Intel® oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler or Intel® C++ Compiler Classic: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI\compiler[version]\windows\documentation\en\compiler_c\
      • Intel® Fortran Compiler: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI\compiler[version]\windows\documentation\en\compiler_f\
    • Paths for PSXE and ISS:
      • Intel® C++ Compiler: C:\Program Files (x86)\IntelSWTools\documentation_YYYY\en\compiler_c\
      • Intel® Fortran Compiler: C:\Program Files (x86)\IntelSWTools\documentation_YYYY\en\compiler_f\
  1. Restart Microsoft Visual Studio*.
  2. Use F1 help as expected.

F1 help works for Intel-specific keywords, all other keywords redirect to a Microsoft* landing page. For the best search experience, use a Google Chrome* or Internet Explorer* browser to view your downloaded Developer Guide and Reference copy. If you use Mozilla Firefox*, you may encounter an issue where the Search tab does not work. As a workaround, you can use the Contents and Index tabs or a third-party search tool to find your content.

NOTE: The Intel® oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler Developer Guide and Reference and Intel C++ Compiler Classic Developer Guide and Reference documents will overwrite each other. Keep this in mind when you are using the path in step 2.

Intel® C++ Compiler Classic (icc) is deprecated. Intel recommends that customers now use the LLVM-based Intel® oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler (icx) for continued Windows* and Linux* support, new language support, new language features, and optimizations.
