Simplified Stock Management, Deployment, and Support
bluechip can now use the same Intel NUC Compute Element as the starting point for each of its tailor-made deployments, across multiple form factors from workstations and PCs through to all-in-ones and notebooks. This capability brings bluechip many advantages. “Previously stock management was very difficult,” says Stolze. “I would order an all-in-one system with a special chipset generation and then Intel would bring out a new one a few months later. I would then have to sell out the old stock so customers could take advantage of the latest technology. I am able to use existing barebone stock with the latest generation of Intel NUC Compute Elements so customers can take advantage of the latest technology. We can also easily upgrade specific customer configurations to newer generations of Intel NUC Compute Elements.”

The Intel NUC Compute Element also enables bluechip to help its customers quickly and easily deploy large fleets of multiple form factor devices. Previously bluechip would have had to create multiple images for each form factor so customer admin teams could install multiple devices. With one SKU Intel NUC Compute Element, bluechip needs to create just one image to support admin teams in rolling out multiple form factors, enabling customers to get up and running more quickly and with less hassle. This capability is particularly appealing to organizations with small IT teams or for public sector organizations putting out large tenders. Troubleshooting and fault resolution is also much easier with Intel NUC Compute Elements. “Previously with each form factor running on different CPUs, memory, and storage, each with multiple configurations, troubleshooting was long and laborious. We had to investigate many parts and variables to find the root of a problem,” says Stolze. With Intel NUC Compute Elements, we can send a one-time spare part that’s quick to replace. We can get customers up and running again in rapid time.”
Increased Customer Satisfaction
Intel NUC Compute Elements are also benefiting bluechip’s customers. High availability of stock and ease of integration means that devices can be quickly and easily put together and deployed, and faults repaired more quickly. Ultimately, faster turnarounds help to increase customer satisfaction.
Also, the modular, forward-compatible approach means that customers can upgrade certain NUC models to the latest performance processors for less. Rather than having to pay for a completely new device, they can just replace the Intel NUC Compute Element.
