Description
This is the specification of a new feature for the Intel® 64 instruction set called flexible return and event delivery (FRED). The feature defines new control-flow transitions (generally between privilege levels) that replace existing transitions (such as event delivery through the IDT and return using IRET). This document is a work in progress and is subject to change based on customer feedback and internal analysis.
