These Instances Did More OLTP Work than C5, C5d, R5, and R5d Instances with Older Processors
If you use Microsoft SQL Server to run your online transaction processing (OLTP) activities in the cloud, it’s smart to choose a high-performing instance. Intel conducted SQL Server OLTP testing on five Amazon EC2 series: I4i instances with 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, and C5, C5d, R5, and R5d instances with older processors. The workload measured the new orders per minute (NOPM) that each instance handled. At all sizes, the I4i instances outperformed the instances with older processors.
