When attempting to connect to a WPA/WPA2 network the connection fails

Note This solution applies to Lenovo* T42, T42p or T43 with Intel® PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection, Driver version 8.0.26.4 or later.

Symptom(s):
When attempting to connect to a network configured to use WPA/WPA2 security, the connection will fail unless an Ethernet cable is plugged in or the Ethernet connection is disabled.

Cause:
Link Status change indicated by the Intel® PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection driver may be missed by upper layer(s). This causes the wireless adapter connection to be terminated and network connectivity is lost.

Solution:
Open registry explorer by going to “Start” -> Run, type in “regedit” and click “ok”.
Navigate to the following path under registry explorer:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}\XXXX\
where XXXX is the driver instance number.
You can verify you are in the right hive by scrolling down the XXXX hives until you see your Ethernet adapters’ name appear as the value of the “DriverDesc” on the right side.
Change the value of “K32MSPD” to “0”, then disable and re-enable the Intel® PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection via the Device Manager.
