The SSD optimizer shows a Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) error screen

The SSD Optimizer shows a Volume Shadow copy Service (VSS) error screen, but I know I am not doing a backup, what is wrong?

Cause:

VSS not enabled for your particular operating system.

Solution:

To ensure that VSS is enabled for your particular operating system using steps a, b or c explained below and then re-run the Intel® SSD Optimizer.

To ensure VSS is enabled for Windows XP please do the following:
1. Click Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.
2. Scroll down to Volume Shadow Copy and double click.
3. Go to Startup Type and Select Automatic to enable VSS each time you start Windows.
4. Click on Start to start VSS immediately.
To ensure VSS is enabled for Windows Vista, please do the following:
1. Click Start and type “Services” in Start Search box and press Enter.
2. Double Click on “Volume Shadow Copy”.
3. Set “Startup” to “Automatic” .
4. Click on Start to start VSS immediately.
To ensure VSS is enabled for Win7, please do the following:
1. Click Start and type “Services” in Search Programs and files box.
2. Click on “Services”.
3. Double Click on “Volume Shadow Copy”.
4. Set “Startup” to “Automatic”.
5. Click Start to start VSS immediately.
