VMware*, Inc. maintains hardware compatibility guides for various versions of VMware* ESX Server. However, you should contact your system hardware vendor directly before adding an Intel® Ethernet Adapter to a certified system.

How do I find Intel® Ethernet Adapters and drivers in the VMware* Compatibility Guide?
- Go to the VMware* Compatibility Guide: I/O Device Search
- Select Product Release Version: Pick the product version (optional)
- Select Brand Name: Intel
- Select I/O Device Type: Network
- In Keyword enter part of the device name in quotes. For example “ET2 Quad” or “X520-DA2”
- Optional for SR-IOV: In Features select SR-IOV
- In the Search Results click on the adapter name in the model column.
- In the Model Release Details you will see a list of all releases and compatible device drivers.
- To see details on the release and driver including a link to the driver download site expand the row by clicking on the “+”.
Hints for finding and downloading the driver Copy the Device Driver(s) information before following the link for VMware* downloads. You can paste this information into the downloads search box to find the correct driver to download. Example: ixgbe version 3.7.13
Check the title in the download search results for your VMware* operating system version to find the link for the correct driver.

Driver types are inbox or async:
- The inbox driver is the version that is included by VMware* in the ESX/ESXi ISO image.
- The async driver is posted on the VMware* driver support site and provides updates to the inbox driver.
