System memory features The Intel® Desktop Board D875PBZ has four DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features:
- 2.6V (only) 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
- Unbuffered, single-sided, or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported
- 4 GB maximum total system memory
- Minimum total system memory: 64 MB
- ECC and non-ECC DIMMs supported
- Serial Presence Detect
- DDR400 and DDR333 SDRAM DIMMs
The following table lists the supported system Bus frequency and memory speed combinations.
| To use this type of DIMM: |
The processor system Bus frequency must be: |
| DDR400 |
800 MHz |
| DDR333 |
800 or 533 MHz (Note) | |
| Note |
When using an 800 MHz system Bus frequency processor, DDR333 memory is clocked at 320 MHz. This processor minimizes system latencies to optimize system throughput. | |
| Note |
- When ECC DIMMs are used, the Power-On Self Test (POST) takes longer to complete.
- Remove the AGP video card before installing or upgrading memory to avoid interference with the memory retention mechanism.
- To be fully compliant with applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should have DIMMs supporting the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS tries to correctly configure the memory settings. Performance and reliability can be impacted or the DIMMs might not function under the designated frequency.

System Bus and memory speeds The Intel® Desktop Board D875PBZ supports two system Bus speeds and two memory speeds. Not all system memory speeds are supported at all system bus speeds. The table below lists available system bus speeds and memory speeds capability.
| System Bus Speed |
PC2700 333 MHz DDR SDRAM |
PC3200 400 MHz DDR SDRAM |
| 800 MHz |

•2 | |
1 To minimize system latencies and optimize system performance 333 MHz DDR memory is clocked at 320 MHz when using an Intel® processor with an 800 MHz system Bus speed.
2 To minimize system latencies and optimize system performance 400 MHz DDR memory is clocked at 333 MHz when using an Intel processor with a 533 MHz system Bus speed.
Tested memory
3rd Party Tested Memory * 3rd party tested memory occurs as requested by the memory vendors and is tested at an independent memory house that is not a part of Intel - Computer Memory Test Labs* (CMTL).
