Disable vsync (synchronize to vertical retrace)

Solution:

To turn off vsync or vertical sync for OpenGL* 3D games or applications, first install the later graphics drivers from the Intel Driver Update Driver Utility. With these drivers installed, there is an OpenGL 3D setting that can be adjusted. Follow the steps below to disable vsync based on the application you are using:

Note The Intel® graphics drivers do not support disabling vsync for Microsoft DirectX* games or applications.

On Microsoft Windows 2000/98/98SE/Me/NT*:

  1. Access the OpenGL 3D settings here: Start » Settings » Control Panel » Display » Settings » Advanced » Intel® Extreme Graphics or Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver tab » Graphics Properties... » OpenGL or 3D Settings.
  2. To disable vsync on older Intel® graphics products, set Asynchronous Flip to On and click Apply.

On Microsoft Windows Vista* and Windows 7*:

  1. Access the OpenGL 3D settings here: Start » Control Panel » Personalization (or Appearance and Personalization) » Display Settings (or Display » Adjust resolution) » Advanced Settings » Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver or Intel(R) Graphics and Media Control Panel tab » Graphics Properties... button » select Advanced Mode (if prompted to select an application mode) » select OpenGL or 3D Settings (or 3D » enable Custom Settings).
  2. To disable vsync on older Intel® graphics products, set Asynchronous Flip to On and click Apply. With newer Intel graphics products, set Vertical Sync to No and click Apply.

On Microsoft Windows XP*:

  1. Access the OpenGL 3D settings here: Start » Control Panel » Display (or Appearance and Themes » Display) » Settings » Advanced » Intel® Extreme Graphics, Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, or Intel(R) Graphics and Media Control Panel tab » Graphics Properties... button » select Advanced Mode (if prompted to select an application mode) » select OpenGL or 3D Settings (or 3D » enable Custom Settings).
  2. To disable vsync on older Intel® graphics products, set Asynchronous Flip to On and click Apply. With newer Intel graphics products, set Vertical Sync to No and click Apply.
