Intel® 810/810E2 Chipsets

Where can I find electrical information on the Intel® 82810 (GMCH)? I did not see it in the datasheet.
The electrical information can be found in a separate document, Intel® 810/810E Chipsets: GMCH Electrical and Thermal Specifications Datasheet Addendum.

What is the difference between AIM and AIMLESS versions of the 810 Video BIOS?
The AIM version provides video BIOS support for TV-out and 3rd party Flat Panel transmitter chips. AIMLESS is a smaller version of the video BIOS for standard CRT support. So the video BIOS you choose depends on the motherboard feature set you require.

How does the 810 video BIOS or O/S know what type of flat panel is connected?
Information about the flat panel (timing, resolution, etc) is contained within an EDID ROM chip and can be queried by the Video BIOS or the O/S. This information is used to setup the 810 video registers properly. The EDID specification (810 supports EDID 1.x) is a VESA standard and is available from VESA. Some flat panels have this EDID ROM chip built in. If not, you will have to provide this ROM on your system board, and program it with the appropriate EDID information for the flat panel you intend to use. The EDID ROM will connect to the I2C* bus provided by the 810 (DDCSCL and DDCSDA).

Are there any Application Notes on interfacing a flat panel with the 82810 Chipset?
Yes, please reference the application note: Interfacing Flat-Panel Displays with Intel® Chipsets.

What process is the Intel® 82810E chipset manufactured on?
The process numbers for the 810E chipset are as follows:
Intel 82810E (GMCH) = 856.5 (0.25m technology)
Intel® 82801BA (ICH2) = 856.5 (0.25m technology)

What is the amount of current draw from the battery when the system is powered off?
When the system is power off, the total current draw from the ICH2 on the battery is a maximum of 4 mA as described on page 16-2 of the Intel® 82810BA (ICH2) datasheet.

How many banks of SDRAM does the Intel® 82810E (GMCH) support? Can we mix different memory size on different banks?
The Intel 82810E (GMCH) supports 4 bank SDRAM components. This should not be confused with the 2 bank selects, which select between sides of a single or double-sided DIMM. See Page 81, section 4.3 of the 810E datasheet for more information. Page 82, table 11 shows the mix and match options for 4 row/2 DIMM configurations. The 810E does support up to 2 DIMMs.
