USB Drivers for Embedded Intel® Chipsets
The ICH3-S and ICH4 south bridges have hardware support for USB 2.0.
Linux* | Windriver & QNX
Operating Systems
Windows
Windows* XP, Windows* 2000, Windows* 98, Windows 98SE, Windows* ME
The USB 1.1 drivers for these operating systems are included with the operating system distribution, and are automatically included when the operating system is installed. The Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility may be used to help the OS discover the correct hardware.
USB 2.0 drivers are not provided or supported on Windows* 98, Windows 98SE, Windows* ME.
Windows* XP Embedded
The USB 1.1 drivers for this operating system is included with the operating system distribution, and may be included when the operating system image is created. These may include updates to support USB 2.0.
Windows NT* 4.0, Windows NT* Embedded
USB drivers are not natively supported by these operating systems. Third party vendors provide support.
Windows* CE 3.0, Windows* CE .NET
USB 1.1 drivers are provided with the operating system distributions; however, they are limited to only a single USB controller. Third party vendors provide additional support.
Linux*
Linux Kernel and MontaVista
The USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 drivers are available in the standard distribution of the Linux kernel and MontaVista* Linux starting with the 2.4.19 release, and in the standard distribution of Red Hat starting with the 7.3 release.
WindRiver* and QNX* Operating Systems
Contact the operating system vendor to determine support for this feature on WindRiver VxWorks* version 5 and QNX* Neutrino* version 6.
