Is external termination required by Stratix V devices to interface with SFP Optical modules?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

SFP optical modules require the host interface to have RD /- differentially terminated with 100Ohm. The Stratix V receiver pins feature programmable differential On-Chip termination (OCT) to meet the requirements of the SFP transceiver modules. The OCT feature also eliminates the need to have external termination and off-chip biasing circuitry to establish the VCM at the receiver input buffer.

Please note that the OCT feature is available after the Stratix® V device configuration is completed. Altera recommends that you wait until the device configuration is completed before inserting the optical module.  Otherwise, you would need to minimize unnecessary removal and insertion with unconfigured devices,

CAUTION: Stratix V devices and SFP optical modules are static sensitive devices. Slowly connect and disconnect SFP transceiver modules from Stratix V devices by using an ESD wrist strap or similar individual grounding device.
