Intel is doing its part to decrease cars on local streets by providing a variety of traffic reduction programs to employees. Intel encourages the use of public transportation, shuttles, carpools and vanpools, and support bike clubs, on-site services and alternate start times. Tri-Met, the Association for Commuter Transportation, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have all praised Intel's commute reduction program with specific recognition.
Commute Reduction Programs
 | Tri-Met Passes: Intel subsidizes $30 of monthly Tri-Met pass costs for blue-badge employees. This supports employees who help reduce traffic congestion, reduce air pollution and conserve fuel by riding mass transit. |
 | Light rail shuttles: Intel provides shuttles at the Jones Farm and Ronler Acres campuses for employees who commute via mass transit. Shuttle vehicles travel between those campuses and light rail stations. |
 | Carpool: Intel sets aside parking spots at each campus for car pool participants. Intel carpoolers save over three million miles of wear and tear on our roads every year. |
 | Telecommuting: Working from home is endorsed and encouraged when appropriate. |
 | Bikers: Intel provides bike racks, and shower facilities to employees who bicycle to work. |
 | On-site services: Intel offers cash machines, fitness centers and food-court style cafeterias reducing the need to run errands during lunch. |
 | Alternate start times: Employees start and end their work day at alternate times, spreeding out the imapct of vehicles on the roads. |
 | Traffic Impact Fees: Intel pays a Traffic Impact Fee (TIF) that allows local jurisdictions to pay for certain improvements. In addition, most Intel projects are required to fund and/or construct numerous "off-site" traffic improvements. |
 | Intel earned the number one ranking on the Environmental Protection Agency's Best Workplaces for Commuters of FORTUNE 500 Companies list in 2004, 2005 and 2006. |
Transportation Improvements
Intel contributes its fair share to addressing traffic issues associated with the company's success. Intel is required to mitigate traffic impacts as we continue to grow. The company works closely with the City of Hillsboro, Washington County and the Oregon Department of Transportation to analyze and address traffic impacts associated with each project.
Intel Aviation Services
 | Daily flights between Intel Santa Clara, California and Oregon facilities using the Hillsboro airport and the San Jose Jet Center. |

 | The goal is to improve work life effectiveness for Intel employees and generate a return on investment for Intel. The average Intel traveler will save two to three hours a day. |
