Intel Announces First FlexATX Form Factor PC Desktop Board For OEMs, System Integrators
Full-Featured, Smaller-Size Board Allows Easy Connectivity, New Designs
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - May 15, 2000 - Intel Corporation today announced a new PC desktop board designed expressly for easier-to-use, small form factor PC designs. The first FlexATX form factor desktop board to be available to Intel authorized dealers and system integrators, the Intel® Desktop Board D810EMO supports the full line of Intel desktop microprocessors, including the Intel Pentium® III and Intel Celeron processors.
The reduced-size, reduced-legacy D810EMO desktop board measures 9.0 inches by 7.5 inches, more than 30 percent smaller than a standard ATX form factor board. It offers two USB ports on both the front and back of the system, allowing fast and easy connection and disconnection of a wide variety of peripherals such as printers and scanners without having to restart the system.
The full-featured board, based on the Intel 810E Chipset, includes onboard Intel 3D graphics with Direct AGP, Creative* SoundBlaster* PCI audio and Intel 82559 LAN controller. The board also features the Suspend-to-RAM low-power state for fast "instant-on" access.
Smaller, Easier to Use
"The PC industry is embracing calls for greater simplicity and ease-of-use in system designs, as well as for more innovation and aesthetic appeal in physical design," said B.C. Ooi, vice president of Intel's Desktop Products Group and general manager, OEM Platform Solutions Division. "The Intel D810EMO desktop board is a fundamental PC building block that encourages implementation of new, easier-to-use technologies and streamlined designs by combining smaller size and easy connectivity with the performance and features that users want in a new desktop PC."
The compact D810EMO desktop board allows for sleeker, smaller chassis designs. It supports all 370-pin PGA Intel Celeron and Pentium III processors and up to 256 MB of SDRAM in a single DIMM slot. The Intel 810E Chipset supports 66 MHz, 100 MHz, and 133 MHz front-side bus speeds and the Ultra ATA/66 high-speed storage interface.
The onboard Creative Labs SoundBlaster AudioPCI* features a 128-voice, downloadable wavetable with 3D positional audio. The Intel 82559 LAN Controller is a switchable solution with autonegotiated 10BaseT or 100BaseTX speeds and Wake-on-LAN* remote wakeup capability.
