Due to a problem in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 25.1 and earlier, you might see this internal error when you choose to encrypt the configuration bitstream (for Phase2 or Partial reconfiguration) and select "Quad SPI flash" as the encryption key storage location.
The problem affects Agilex™ 7 FPGA F/I/M-Series devices. This option is invalid and shouldn’t be shown as an option to the users.
To work around this problem, choose “Quad SPI Intrinsic ID PUF-wrapped” or “Quad SPI UDS Intrinsic ID PUF-wrapped” instead of the “Quad SPI Flash” option.
- Go to “Assignments -> Device -> Devices and Pin Options -> Security”.
- Select “Quad SPI Intrinsic ID PUF-wrapped or Quad SPI UDS Intrinsic ID PUF-wrapped as 'Encryption key storage location'.
The “Quad SPI flash" cannot be used as an Encryption key storage location for Agilex™ 7 FPGA devices. This option will be removed in the “Device and Pin Options” GUI from the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 25.1.1 release onwards.
