Why do the Intel Agilex® 7 F-Series & I-Series HPS devices freeze when loading an image?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 23.3 and earlier,  you may see the Intel Agilex® 7 F-Series & I-Series HPS devices hang when loading an image. This is due to the phase_en signal in the IOPLL Intel® FPGA IP being unintentionally enabled, which leads to an unintended dynamic phase shift, resulting in the HPS EMIF or FPGA EMIF operating incorrectly.
