Why does SEU error detection fail to detect double-bit non-adjacent errors that occurred in the Agilex™ 7 devices?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 23.2 and earlier, the SEU error queue will report a single-bit correctable error after a double-bit (non-adjacent) uncorrectable error has occurred. This problem may occur when the internal scrubbing feature is enabled in the Agilex™ 7 devices.

SEU detection and internal scrubbing will stop working after reporting this single-bit correctable error. No SEU error will be reported or corrected, the SEU error message queue will be empty, and the SEU_ERROR pin will be de-asserted.

    Resolution

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 23.3.
