How can I erase all non-volatile memories on the Intel® Arria® 10 GX FPGA Development Kit?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

The Intel® Arria® 10 GX FPGA Development Kit is populated with the following non-volatile memories, which can be used to store user data: MAX® V CPLD memory, Micron NOR Parallel Flash Memory PC28FxxxP30B45, EPCQ Serial NOR Flash Memory EPCQ1024L.

Other non-volatile memories are only used to store configuration data, and they are not accessible to store user data.

Resolution

To access and erase the MAX® V FPGA memory, use the Intel® Quartus® Prime Programmer. To ensure that the MAX V appears on the programming chain, switch SW4[2] has to be set off

The Micron NOR Parallel Flash can be accessed with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Programmer. The memory is connected to the MAX V in the JTAG chain, so it should be ensured that it appears by setting switch SW4[2] off. If the flash is not detected, download the Intel® Arria® 10 GX FPGA Package and configure the FPGA with the file at \examples\board_test_system\image\<Silicon Type>\dummy.sof.

The EPCQ Serial NOR Flash Memory can be accessed through the Intel® Quartus® Prime Programmer, appearing connected to the Intel Arria 10 GX in the device chain. To ensure access, MSEL[2..0] pins (SW5[3…1]) should be set to Active Serial Fast or Standard mode as follows:

Fast - SW5[3…1]: 010

Standard - SW5[3…1]: 011
