This is observed in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 21.3 for Linux when compiling a Quartus software design within Nios® V Command Shell. For example,
- Using the Intel Quartus Prime Software within the Nios® V Command Shell
- Launch the Nios® V Command Shell.
- Launch the Intel® Quartus® Software in the command shell.
- Perform a hardware compilation using Processing ➤ Start Compilation.
- Using command line interface within Nios® V Command Shell
- Launch the Nios® V Command Shell.
- Perform a hardware compilation using quartus_sh --flow compile <Project Name> in the command shell.
This is due to the incorrect Linux environment variable settings by Nios® V Command Shell, which causes compilation failure in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software or through Nios® V Command Shell command line flow.
To work around this for the Linux environment, exit the Nios® V Command Shell before compiling a project. Any design compilation should not be done within the Nios® V Command Shell.
This only affects project compilation with no impact to Nios® V utilities script (niosv-*).
This problem is fixed starting with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 21.4
