Licensing Issues with 1G/10GbE PHY IP Core In Quartus II Releases 12.1

Critical Issue

Description

If your 1G/10 Gbps Ethernet PHY IP Core turns On the Enable automatic speed detection option in version 12.1 of the Quartus II software, you must have licenses for both the 1G/10GbE Ethernet PHY and the 10GBASE-KR PHY IP Cores.

Resolution

The workaround is to upgrade to version 12.1 SP1 of the Quartus II software where only the 1G/10GbE license is required.
