CPRI IP Core 9.8G PHY Testbench Requires That Initial MIF-Generating Variation and DUT Include the MAC Block

Critical Issue

Description

The CPRI MegaCore Function v12.1 SP1 User Guide indicates that the CPRI IP core variations you generate to run the tb_altera_cpri_autorate_98G_phy testbench should have the Include MAC block parameter turned off. However, this is incorrect.

If you turn off Include MAC block, the Quartus II software does not generate the testbench files correctly.

Resolution

To avoid this issue, when you generate both the initial MIF-generating variation described in Table 8-6 in the CPRI MegaCore Function v12.1 SP1 User Guide, and when you change the CPRI line rate to generate the MIF, you must specify that the variation include the MAC block, by turning on (or leaving on, for the DUT) the Include MAC block parameter in the parameter editor.

This issue is fixed in version 13.0 SP1 of the CPRI MegaCore Function User Guide.
