Critical Issue

Description

When you run the HDMI 2.0 designs (av_sk_hdmi2 and sv_hdmi2) with Bitec HDMI 2.0 HSMC daughter card revision 1, the FPGA sink may not lock to the incoming stream if you switch the external source between 4Kp60 and other HDMI 1.4b resolutions. This issue is caused by the I2C interface issue on the HSMC daughter card. The I2C transaction fails to update the SCDC TMDS_Bit_Clock_Ratio register that indicates the ratio of the incoming TMDS clock rate over TMDS bit rate. Because of this issue, you may also not see any video display on the external monitor from the FPGA source.

Resolution

To work around this issue, you may apply global reset and perform a hot-plug event to recover but the outcome is not guaranteed.

This issue will be fixed in a future version of the HSMC daughter card.
