How do I turn off the generation of unnecessary programming files during compilation in the Quartus II software?

Description

You can turn off the generation of unnecessary programming files during compilation on the Device and Pin options menu in the Quartus® II software.

  1. Choose Device under Assignments menu and click Device and Pin Options
  2. Select Configuration in Category panel on the left of the Device and Pin Options window 
  3. Turn off check box for Use configuration device if available
  4. Next, select Programming Files in Category panel 
  5. Turn off check boxes for unnecessary programming file types
