Does the HDMI IP meet the specification requirement of a Minimum 12 Control Period Symbols?

Environment

    Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
    HDMI Intel® FPGA IP
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT

Critical Issue

Description

The HDMI TX IP core in any configuration with audio support does not always guarantee minimum duration control period of 12 symbols as per HDMI 1.4b (Table 5-3) specification requirement.

In any video resolution that fulfills the following horizontal blanking (Hblank) condition potentially violates the requirement of minimum 12 control period symbols.
Hblank = (X * 32 Y) 56 48 where
X = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, …
Y = 0, 1.
Y = 0 leaves the following control period at only 10 symbols while Y = 1 leaves the following control period at only 11 symbols.

Not being fully compliant to specification could potentially cause interoperability issues.

Resolution

There is no work around for this problem.
This problem will be fixed in a future release of the Quartus® Prime software.
