Why do I get the following error message when generating the 10-Gbps Ethernet MAC, "Error: Error: Family name "Cyclone IV GX" is illegal"

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

This error occurs when you generate the 10GbE MAC IP and if you have installed Quartus® II with only a limited set of devices. For example, only Stratix® IV GX device support has been installed.

To workaround this error, you can simply re-install Quartus II ensuring that all device famlies are installed. Then regenerate the 10GbE MAC IP.

This problem will be fixed in a future version of the Quartus II software.
