Why is my user-defined flash device database in the Configuration Device missing?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Standard Edition
  • All

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Software version 19.1, the user-defined flash device database in the Convert Programming Files and Programming File Generator is missing when XML, SOF, and JIC files are not located in the same directory. This has caused the Configuration Device unable to locate back the user-defined flash that is stored in the directory when doing file generation.

    Resolution

To work around this problem, you can use either one of the following options:

    • Option 1: Store the new user-defined flash XML at quartus/common/devinfo/programmer/xml directory, which is the default option.
    • Option 2: If you need to use the local directory, make sure all the XML, SOF, and JIC files are stored in the same folder.

This problem is fixed starting with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Standard Edition Software version 19.1 and Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 19.2.
