Why does Intel® MAX® 10 fail programming with JAM file?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Standard Edition
  • Jam™ STAPL software
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

You may see a failure in programming Intel® MAX® 10 with either a JBC file or a JAM file.

This problem is only seen when other FPGA devices are in a JTAG chain with Intel® MAX® 10.

The problem is due to incorrect formatting in Intel® Quartus® Prime Software when converting the programming file to JBC or JAM file.

    Resolution

As a workaround, check the option "Enable real-time ISP to allow background programming when available", which is located below the "Hardware Setup" button in the Programmer tool.

Execute "Create JAM, JBC, SVF or ISC File JBC or JAM file" to generate a JAM file or JBC file.

This problem will be fixed in a future version of the software release.
