This article lists the maximum supported number of Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) Virtual Functions (VFs) for Intel® Brand Card (IBC) Intel® Arc™ Pro graphics products.
| Intel Brand Card product | Maximum supported SR-IOV VFs per physical GPU |
|---|---|
| Intel® Arc™ Pro B70 Graphics | 4 VFs |
| Intel® Arc™ Pro B50 Graphics | 2 VFs |
A Physical Function (PF) is the main GPU device installed in the host system. With SR-IOV enabled, the PF can create one or more Virtual Functions (VFs). Each VF appears as a separate PCIe function that can be assigned to a supported virtual machine.
Use the latest supported Intel® Arc™ Pro graphics driver and GPU firmware for SR-IOV deployment.
The Intel Arc Pro B50 production SR-IOV configuration is limited to 2 VFs. Higher counts that may have appeared with earlier experimental driver or firmware combinations are not validated supported configurations.
Intel selects the supported VF count to help provide predictable resource allocation, performance, and quality of service for virtualized graphics and compute workloads.
A VF is intended for a virtualized workload. It is not equivalent to a dedicated physical GPU with all PF resources available exclusively to that VM.
Before configuring SR-IOV, verify that SR-IOV and IOMMU/virtualization features are enabled in the platform BIOS or UEFI, where required by the platform.
Intel states that Arc Pro B50’s supported SR-IOV configuration is two VFs per physical GPU and requires Arc Pro driver version 32.0.101.8306 or newer for formal production enablement. Intel’s B50 product-support page also identifies the current 2-VF behavior as relevant support content.intel+1
No. Configure no more than the supported maximum for the installed GPU:
Arc Pro B70: 4 VFs
Arc Pro B50: 2 VFs
Attempting to use an unsupported VF count may fail, cause instability, or result in an unvalidated configuration.
No. GPU compute, graphics, memory, and bandwidth resources are shared and managed across the PF and enabled VFs. Workload behavior depends on the number of active VFs, workload type, guest configuration, and available GPU resources.
No. Any higher VF counts observed with earlier driver or firmware combinations were not part of the supported production configuration. Intel’s formally supported Arc Pro B50 SR-IOV configuration limits the device to two VFs.linustechtips
No. In addition to a supported Intel Arc Pro GPU, the host platform must support the required PCIe virtualization capabilities, and SR-IOV/IOMMU settings must be correctly enabled and configured.
The supported IBC configuration is:
IBC Intel Arc Pro B70: Up to 4 VFs per physical GPU.
IBC Intel Arc Pro B50: Up to 2 VFs per physical GPU.
