VRR Refresh Rate Fluctuation and Stuttering Around 60 FPS on Intel Arc Graphics with VRR-Capable Displays

Description Users with Intel® Arc™ graphics using a VRR-capable display may experience severe refresh rate fluctuation and stuttering when content is running at or near 60 FPS on a 120 Hz display. The refresh rate is observed bouncing wildly between values such as 80 Hz and 108 Hz instead of staying at a stable value, resulting in severe display stutter regardless of frame time consistency.

The issue is most prominent in the ~55–65 FPS range and has been reported across multiple devices and display configurations, including:

• MSI Claw 8 AI+
• MSI Claw 8 EX AI+
• Dell XPS 16 / Dell 16 Premium
• Intel Arc B580 desktop GPU with external VRR monitors

This is a known issue that has been replicated internally by Intel and is currently under active investigation.
