The Intel Processor COF/COA Detection Utility allows customers to quickly identify a CPU's Country of Fabrication (COF) and Country of Assembly (COA) using QR codes or barcode input. This FAQ covers common questions related to using the tool on web and mobile browsers.

You can open the utility using any browser such as Chrome*, Edge*, or Safari* by navigating to cofutility.intel.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I use my PC camera to scan QR codes?

    For optimal results and accuracy, a hardware barcode scanner is the recommended method for scanning.

  2. What should I expect when scanning Processor QR codes or Inner Box codes?
    • CPU Scan (QR code) with results displayed for both English and Chinese versions.
    • Inner Box Scan, including detection of MM, LOT, and BOX barcode fields.
    • Success or failure verification results after clicking Verify Now.

  3. What do I do if the verification results display a failure message?

    If the system returns a failure message after clicking Verify Now, it may be due to:

    • Incorrect or unreadable scan
    • Unsupported code format
    • Mismatch between scanned data and internal record

  4. What should I do if I encounter a network error?

    If you see a Network error. Please check your network settings and try again later message, this indicates that:

    • Your device's network may be unstable, or
    • The utility is temporarily unavailable
       
  5. How will I know when the system is unavailable due to maintenance?

    When scheduled maintenance is underway, users will see a notification message on the home screen of the utility.
