Remote connection requirements for headless Intel® vPro machines. No remote connection when the monitor is unplugged from the Intel® vPro endpoint.
Remote connection to headless Intel® vPro machines requires an extra device if the KVM with no video plugged is not included in the BIOS of the machine. Please verify with your PC manufacturer.
If the endpoint is headless, the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) powers down if no requests come via the operating system. In this case, when the endpoint is power-cycled or booted to the BIOS, it detects no attached monitor and powers down the GPU, which results in a black/blank screen.
Solution:
Plug a display emulator dongle into the embedded video port of the motherboard of the PC.
These dongles can be purchased from many electronics dealers such as Newegg and Amazon.
