Description

Issue: The Intel® RST GUI fails to launch after clicking the Volumes has degraded notification window, and subsequent attempts to open the application result in an error message.

Symptoms: The Intel RST application quits unexpectedly and cannot be reopened after clicking the notification, displaying an error message: Application Failed to launch, Error Code:0xA0080000.

Intel RST application works as expected running on both user and administrator accounts in Windows® 10, as well as on administrator accounts in Windows 11*.

However, on a user account in Windows 11*, after the UAC prompt appears and administrator credentials are entered, an error occurs when launching the application.

Root Cause: The issue is caused by a change in Windows 11* UAC access privileges.

Reproducibility: 100%

Affected OS Information: Windows11_v24H2/23H2/22H2

Affected Platforms: Arrow Lake, Raptor Lake, Alder Lake Platforms, Client Common Platforms

Resolution

Restart the system and manually launch the Intel® RST application from the All Apps menu to avoid the error.
