Intel® Arc™ Cards Fan Behavior Intermittently Ramps while Idle
Content Type: Troubleshooting | Article ID: 000101249 | Last Reviewed: 06/05/2025
The GPU fan intermittently spins up and then shuts off every few seconds at idle. This occurs even when temperature is around 47 °C. The issue persists across both balanced and performance Windows power profiles. At load, the fan behaves normally, ramping up and maintaining appropriate speeds.
This is expected behavior. These fluctuations at idle would not have a big impact on the longevity of the fans. Please note that the rotation speed (RPM) of the fans should not be too high during this period.
